Programs to Help You Pay Your Electric Bill
Benton REA has programs available to help you pay your electric bill. We understand life can be tough and it’s easy to fall behind. We want to make sure you can get back on your feet, by offering financial assistance and guiding you to the right services.

Senior Discount Program
To ease the financial burden caused by energy costs on low-income senior residential members, Benton REA offers a discount of $24 each month to qualifying members.
Qualifications:

Combined annual household income that is equal to or less than 200% of the Washington State Poverty guideline for two- member households.

Applicants must be 62 years of age or older.
Disability Discount Program
If you are a disabled residential member and meet the income guidelines you can receive a discount of $24 each month.
Qualifications:

Combined annual household income that is equal to or less than 200% of the Washington State Poverty guideline for two- member households.

Applicant must provide proof of disability through a current “Social Security Administration Retirement, Survivors and Disability Insurance Statement” for the applicable periods.
Power to Care
Residential members who have a past due balance on their electric account or have received a disconnection notice may qualify for assistance through our Power to Care fund.
To receive Power to Care funds you must:
- Have electric service under our residential rate schedule.
- Have a combined annual gross household income equal to or less than 200% of the federal poverty guideline income level based on the number of people in the household.
Bill assistance will be granted as a credit on the qualifying members’ electric account once per calendar year. The amount received depends on the family size, household income and amount due on the electric account.
Washington 2-1-1
Dial 211 from anywhere in Washington State and you will reach a highly-trained information and referral specialist who will assess your needs and provide a list of referrals to available resources in your community. Washington 211 has a database of over 27,000 resources to help you find the right services.
