Community Donations

Benton REA recognizes that, in addition to providing the basic needs of service to its member, Benton REA must also financially support other organizations and groups that provide services to our members and their families.

Benton REA is committed to positively impacting the communities within Benton REA’s service territory. Therefore, Benton REA has been given authority by the Board of Trustees to authorize donations pursuant to the following guidelines:

  • Only one donation request per organization, activity or group that is greater than $200 will be considered per calendar year, and a maximum of three total donations per organizations per calendar year will be awarded.
  • Donation requests exceeding $500 may be brought to the Benton REA Board of Trustees for consideration, under the discretion of the general manager.
  • In alignment with Benton REA’s strategic goals and objectives and in an effort to impact the largest cross section of members as possible, the Board has established the following categories:
    • Schools and School-Sponsored Programs
    • Youth Activities
    • Civic and Chamber of Commerce
    • Community Health
    • Community Events
  • Consideration will be given to charitable organizations, activities or groups whose primary focus positively benefits a segment of the Benton REA membership. Cognizant to the fact that the Board of Trustees is accountable to the member owners, the following criteria applies to all requests for donations:
    • Donations will be limited to those organizations or groups that provide services that benefit Benton REA members or their families.
    • Requests must be received in writing and shall include a statement regarding the intended use of donation.
    • Donations must directly benefit the group, activity or organization and the recipient must refrain from using any Benton REA donation received for political organizations/groups, candidates for or in political office, labor groups or specific individuals or families.
    • It is expected that the organization, activity or group receiving donations will publically acknowledge Benton REA’s donation.

To request a community donation from Benton REA, please submit a letter of request including the organization or charity's name, where the donation should be mailed, the requested amount of funding and a description of what the funds will be used for to:
