Upcoming Community Blood Drives

Benton REA will co-host two American Red Cross blood drives this month. The first blood drive will be Wednesday, January 13, at the Prosser Holiday Inn Express & Suites. The second will be Thursday, January 21, in West Richland at the Mayfield Gathering Place and Gardens. Both drives will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Odds have it someone you know will need blood during your lifetime. According to the Red Cross, every two seconds someone in America needs blood, from trauma victims to cancer patients, mothers giving birth to premature babies and so many more.

Each pint of blood collected can help save up to three lives and touch the lives of many more. From the last six Benton REA sponsored blood drives, 177 units were collected. That’s 531 potential lives saved by the Benton REA community.

The Red Cross continues to monitor the pandemic and is committed to operating blood drives in the safest way possible. At each drive, Red Cross staff follow the highest standards of safety and infection control.

Benton REA was honored with the American Red Cross’ Outstanding Service Award, recognizing the co-op as an extraordinary Blood Program Partner who stood with the American Red Cross during the COVID-19 pandemic.
