The Clean Energy Transformation Act, passed in 2019 by the Washington Legislature, requires Benton REA to file a Clean Energy Implementation Plan. Benton REA is seeking member input on this plan.

Clean energy is electricity that does not produce carbon or other greenhouse gases as it is generated. Examples include hydro, solar, wind, geothermal and tidal power, renewable natural gas or hydrogen, some biodiesel fuels and biomass energy.

Benton REA currently purchases all electricity distributed to members from the Bonneville Power Administration. Most of that power is carbon-free.

“As Benton REA develops its Clean Energy Implementation Plan, we want to understand how members view their communities and how the transition to cleaner electricity could help shape the future,” says Troy Berglund, community development and member relations manager.

To give your feedback, complete the Clean Energy Implementation Plan survey on the homepage of www.BentonREA.org or go to www.surveymonkey.com/r/CEIP.

The 26-question survey should take about 15 minutes to complete and is open until December 10.
