Sign Up for June 30 Blood Drive

An Apprentice Lineworker donates blood at the Benton REA West Richland Office in 2019

A blood drive is scheduled for June 30 at the Benton REA West Richland office at 6095 W. Van Giesen St.

According to the American Red Cross, thousands of blood drives were cancelled this spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic, including one of Benton REA’s drives in March due to the temporary office closure.

The need for this gift of life is still great.

At the time of publication, Benton REA offices remain closed to the public to prevent the spread of COVID-19. If Benton REA offices are closed on June 30, our community room will be open for the blood drive.

The Red Cross continues to monitor the evolving situation. It is committed to operating blood drives in the safest way possible.

At each blood drive, Red Cross staff follow the highest standards of safety and infection control. They have implemented additional precautions, such as:

  • Checking the temperature of all staff, volunteers and donors before entering the blood drive. If anyone has a temperature greater than 99.5 degrees, they will not be able to enter.
  • Wearing gloves throughout the drive and changing them often.
  • Wearing facemasks according to CDC public guidelines.
  • Enhancing disinfecting by asking donors to use hand sanitizer before and during the donation process.
  • Practicing social distancing by allowing 6-feet between donor areas.

Anyone who wishes to donate blood at the June 30 drive, must not have donated whole blood after May 5, 2020.

To schedule a donation at Benton REA’s West Richland community room on June 30, visit RedCrossBlood.org and use sponsor code BREA or call 509-781-6753.
